We’ve always believed that good work stands the test of time. When House of Canvas started, sewing awnings and canopies was mostly done by hand. Although some tools have changed, the skill and attention required have not. It’s still our hands guiding every stitch, ensuring that an awning for a backyard deck or a new shade sail for a small business is built to last. Over the years, we’ve embraced new materials and improved machines, but what matters most is still the care we put into each project.

In the early nineties, our shop adopted computer-aided design. It helped us accelerate planning and handle more complex projects, but it never replaced hands-on expertise. So whether a project calls for a classic patio awning, a new set of shade sails, or the addition of a retractable awning to a neighbourhood café, we still begin and complete each job with the same dedication to serving the people of Ottawa.

We owe more to word of mouth than any marketing campaign could provide. Most of our first customers contacted us because someone they trusted spoke highly of us. That has always meant a great deal.
